FIESTAS OF THE MOORS & CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE ITS HALF-YEAR THIS WEEKEND

On Saturday 4th February, Javea will celebrate the Moors and Christians as they celebrate ‘Mig Any’, the half-year ceremony, the mid-point between fiestas.
The celebrations start on Friday evening the 3rd when the Filà Almoradins will organise an informal parade through the streets of the port in Javea.
On Saturday morning, there will be a communal brunch for all the members after which there will be a informal parade through the streets with all the Christian and Moorish companies line abreast and march to beat of their respective sides. The parade will start in Calle Bartolomé Ros and pass through the grand archway of Pío X and continue along the Plaza del Presidente.

In afternoon, the precision will make its way to the Salones Carrasco where the main event of the ‘Mig Any’ celebrations will take place. After a gala dinner, the standard bearers for the 2017 edition will be officially proclaimed in the form of Raquel Violera Castellanos from the Filà Jalufos for the Moors and Loreto García Llidó (Filà Faciners) for the Christians. There will also be a presentation of the captaincy of this year’s edition to Filà Jalufos as well as a formal thanks and farewell to the representatives of the 2016 edition who so enthusiastically held their post.
