Three Kings Javea | What’s on in Javea 2020
The Three Kings Fiesta and parade is the highlight of Christmas celebrations in Javea, being enjoyed by thousands of people.
The fiesta celebrates the three Kings (also known as The Three Wise Men or Magi) visiting and honouring the baby Jesus, and involves giving gifs to the children and celebrations, and a parade.
The traditional Three Kings Fiesta & Parade will start from Javea Port tonight Sunday the 5th January at 5pm.
The Three Kings will arrive at the port area of Javea by boat, where they will greet the children, and parade through the streets of Javea. They then head towards the Historic Town Centre and to the Avenida de Jaime I where they meet all the families.
Three Kings Day, or Dia de los Reyes in Spanish, falls on January 6 every year. It’s the day that most children in Spain receive their Christmas presents.
Another essential part of Three Kings Day in Spain is the roscon de reyes, or kings’ cake. The ring-shaped pastry is decorated to look like a crown that a king would wear. It is often topped with glazed fruits, representing the colourful jewels on a crown. Buried inside it is a toy, often a figurine of baby Jesus or a tiny king. The person who finds it in their piece is said to have good luck for the year.
